I went online 2 days ahead as the website allows to order a cake for my wife’s 44th birthday, nothing over the top mostly because the website offers such a poor selection in cakes.

No contact once the order was placed and only due to the horrible weather we received I decided to call in to make sure everything was ok. I called in at noon (this comes into play later) Not only did they NOT start the cake but they failed to inform me they couldn’t make it due to their edible photo printer not working.

Not once did Safeway bakery reach out to me with my phone number or email they had when I placed the order.

I attempted to discuss options with the bakery staff because in just hours I should be picking the cake up. Not a single option I saw on their website they were able to do , I asked to speak to a manager and was told by the woman in the bakery that none were working at all that day, the highest seniority person working was a front end cashier named Megan.

I was transferee to Megan who doubled down on the fact that she was the highest acting manager in the store. She apologized and begged me to let the bakery make a cake at no cost, reluctantly I agreed because I just wanted to make my wife’s day special. I gave her my basic requests which were purple piping for her name and happy birthday , white whipped frosting , white cake , add some flowers and accent colors that were feminine for my adult wife’s cake.

Three hours later I arrived on schedule to pick up the cake and what I was greeted was a nightmare of a cake that looks like it was made for a 4 year old , the manager yes manager named Conner came to meet me and wanted to talk about the whole experience. He had apparently been there since 8 am and was mortified that he was never made aware of the situation when I first called in and even moreso when he saw the disaster of a cake I was given . He offered me a 20$ gift card which I doubt I will ever use because I refuse to give this store a penny of my business after this. I appreciate Connor for trying to do a bit more to make this right and the assurance that he and the district manager will be perusing corrective action for the bakery staff and all involved. Had I spoke to him earlier perhaps the outcome wouldn’t have been so disastrous.

I know where I won’t be shopping in the future.

Place has really gone downhill in recent years. Advertised specials always out of stock. Digital coupons not ringing up at register. Charging me for bags even though I brought my own. Store Director always busy, never returns calls. Corporate is no help. No wonder they wanted Kroger to buy them out. Go shop at Wal-Mart, folks!

This place should seriously just be closed. They have maybe five checkout lanes and only like to use three of them. Seems like there’s only two people working at a time. Huge lines ALWAYS, takes at least 10+ minutes to check out. Cashiers attempt to call managers over the intercom for help, no managers show up. Just bad customer service all around.
Not to mention Safeway will say they’re “hiring” and they’ll even take your application but they won’t be hiring anyone! They like to keep us all waiting +20 minutes to check out at their stupid little store.
Shame on this place! Canon city is too big for you now!

The cashier holly was very rude. She swatted my hand away when I tried to carry a case of alcohol when I was trying to help my friend, and I’m also of age. I never write reviews but she had an attitude from the start and swatting at me was the cherry on top.

Easily located off of Highway 50 in Canon City nice and clean store not a very good selections of milk but good selections of almost everything else at this time they're doing the Monopoly board game again they do have a bakery Deli in a pharmacy cash register employee was extremely knowledgeable and nice

We got our vaccinations in the pharmacy. Best experience I've had getting vaccinations at a pharmacy. No waiting, courteous service.

This is the most disgusting grocery store I have ever set foot in. It’s filthy, it smells bad, produce is not edible and meats look expired and brown. How on earth do people shop here!!?
