This museum truly exceeded my expectations! The grounds, the building, the variety of the collection and adjacent sculpture garden are all immaculate. I was surprised to see a fish pond inside plus ceramics, photography, watercolors, and such notable artists on display. The gift shop is superb with many local artists and one of a kind finds at a fair price.

Awesome place my daughter is learning how to make things with clay and make pottery she's very happy with the teaching.

Beautiful museum to tour with my art-loving teenagers! Super cool to see the marionettes created by Mason City native Bil Baird, displayed from one of my all-time favorite movies, The Sound of Music.

A friend and I planned a girls' day trip and Mason City was the chosen destination. The Charles H. MacNider Museum was our first stop. What a hidden gem! The art work was amazing.: a photography competition was running with fabulous regional captured images. There were Grant Wood on display and the Dr. Chang section was filled with gorgeous pottery, sculpture and more. The Bill Baird puppets from The Sound of Music were delightful to see up close. The Museum store was filled with the work of local artisans, local history books to educate and more for purchase. I can't wait to go back again!

Great museum with a variety of works on display. Very peaceful visit, friendly staff, and free admission! Closed on Mondays, but come down and check it out!

Very enjoyable! A surprising amount for artwork in the building and we'll laid out. Also the surrounding landscaping is very nice too with great views of the river below!
