Networking is a big part of my activity as a solopreneur, so when I checked out Jessica Campos's Happy Hour about 2 years ago, I had high hopes. The event said it is the fastest growing networking event for professionals. I would later learn that BNI has 45 chapters in the Austin area, and some chapters being 75 members, whereas 50 seems to be the average number at her events, so that is statistically not correct. When I arrived at Granduco Hotel in West Lake Hills, a room had not been reserved, so Jessica had us meet in the hallway where they had piped in music. The $20's did not go towards one of the swanky rooms, and lines their pockets. She basically made $1k that night! Furthermore, at the end of every meeting, she and her partner put together a "Commercial" for you to use their business, so they in turn can profit even more. I saw that their marketing strategy is lure vulnerable small business owners and entrepreneurs, like myself, to solicit their business. Now she has a new group called Big Happy Hour and has 3 prices: 15, 25, 60, and 200. Imagine what profit they have now?! Make sure when you are joining a group, that money is invested in resources to YOUR benefit. As far as improving your business, I could not see how they stand out among a very competitive industry such as digital marketing. This business is not BBB accredited; I could only find 4 reviews, one being a pastor and one being her friend, and no case studies. Also, they used poor grammar in their material. In their online presence, 2 locations are mentioned, even tho they are only in Cedar Park. Please do your research and find someone with your best interest in mind and has a proven track record. Blackhawk is definitely one I'd go with, and I found Glow and Grow Agency to be very ethical, tho just starting out. Beware of what my industry calls an empty suit.
