Jeremy insisted on submitting my sign application himself because of his good relationship with the city, and did not follow through, nor did he communicate it hadn’t been done. I could have started the process myself. He handed me my application the day of install to handle. As far as design, I had no choice but to accept my sign as-is, even though it needed edits and paint color correction.

Also, communication over text was so strange and he often didn’t even realize he was talking ABOUT us over text? For instance, he would say, “she was handling that”, or “hey, the husband texted, we need to push the team to get this done it’s gonna be close”.

I have no words. They apologized, but it doesn’t change the experience and they didn’t offer to make it right financially either.

it was way more than a month his team had to complete it and he said in a meeting that was more than enough time to complete by March 20th. The 20th came and went and they installed on the 22nd.

* I smiled and shook his hand because I had an opening party starting and couldn’t spend my energy on this, naturally.

* he is lying about my design being a pencil sketch, it was made in photoshop entirely.

*my sign was intricate but all communication from him was that it would be done way before opening

Lastly, being honest about my experience is not bashing. Integrity is taking accountability and making it right with the customer and not treating women small business owners with disrespect.

Jeremy and the team at Signs by Van took on our very unique project of recreating an 80 year old sign for which we only had a few blurry black and white photos. They came out and took measurements, discussed the wood (we originally wanted redwood to match the arch itself, but they suggested cedar which turned out to be the right call), and drew the unique font by hand. They even did the carved bit on the side of the sign which I was not expecting them to copy. The paint and stain was matched perfectly. They brought their bucket truck out and mounted it on an 80 year old arch to ensure that this sign will be around for another 80 years. The alumni of the Ming Quong Home have been very emotional and happy about this replica, its absolutely identical and everything we could have hoped for. Not to mention the cost was entirely reasonable. Its truly a work of art and they understood the importance of this sign to the alumni and really went the extra mile to deliver. Thank you Jeremy and all your staff at Signs by Van.

Signs are one of the most important aspects of a business. They tell a lot about the business and can either draw new customers in or if they are poorly designed and crafted, turn potential customers away.

We were opening our new store in Cannery Row, Monterey and needed a few signs for the directory and above our store. We were originally referred to another company, but they were difficult to work with and their quality was sub-par.
