The Third Strike with Alaska Communications: A Complete Disaster in Customer Service

If you're thinking of doing business with Alaska Communications, read this first—you'll want to reconsider.

Every time our FiWi goes out, it's the same story: the worst tech support imaginable. The fastest response I’ve ever had? Seven business days—just for a callback that leads to the classic “restart your router” advice. The real issue is always a dish misalignment, easily fixed, but it takes days to even schedule a tech.

Six months ago, after no response from ACS, I posted on their Facebook page, and a tech was sent out in under an hour. It’s sad that public shaming is the only way to get service. This time, it’s even worse.

You'll hear excuses like, "We’re understaffed," or "We changed our call tree," but here's the kicker: ACS doesn’t work weekends. If your internet goes down on a Friday, you’re out of luck until Monday. By then, they’re so backed up, you'll be lucky to get a call that week.

I'm writing this review using my AT&T hotspot because my internet has been down for 7 days with zero contact from ACS. They claimed to call on Monday, but I have no missed calls or voicemails. When I finally reached tech support, even they couldn't contact a technician.

To top it off, their queue system is broken. It tells me I have no trouble ticket, forcing me into their useless chat system. One ACS employee didn’t believe me until he tested the queue himself. His solution? "Just wait."

If I ran my business like ACS, I wouldn’t last a week. With options like STARLINK, there's no reason to stay with a company that treats its customers like this. Alaskans deserve better. ACS has had more chances than they deserve. Farewell, ACS—you've earned it.

Horrible company to work with. They half the time don't even respond to your calls and service requests. I don't know if they just don't want to help or what. They drop service randomly at Horrible times and even when your don't have service for days at a time do not give any refunds for your lost time. Switching to star link. These guys need to go out of buisness.

Horrible Technical support.
They don't have tech support after regular hours or on the weekend. I called Monday morning, and after 48 minutes on hold, I gave up, hung up, and drove to their office in Soldotna.

I wish when ACS claimed they were dropping the cellphones to give amazing service and quality for internet that this was true. It is further than the truth. My only opinion is ACS or starlink but with the speeds starlink is offering I am debating making the jump. My internet speed currently is 23.5mbps download and 2.5mbps upload. This hardly run much of anything with speeds like that. I called to see if I was able to get faster speeds and was told I could not as they dropped the current speed I have now and my speed if I upgraded would drop to 15mbps upload. I can’t run anything I need without issues. Security cameras, iRobot vacuum, tv and PC. We can run one to two things. I do not recommend. I will say the customer service is great at least for me when I call.
