This is a must stop if visiting lake Britton! I’m not really afraid of heights but It’s actually pretty scary to walk across! Not sure how the kids did it in the movie. The rumor is that the bridge will someday be a part of a rails and trails project

Was cool to see this bridge in person. Could be dangerous for little kids though as some of the cross timbers have become more rotten than others. It's probably just a matter of time before someone gets hurt and they tear the bridge down.

It's pretty cool that it's right off the HWY and easy to get to and that it's from the movie. Like others have said, it's rather worn down, and the wood is deteriorating, but the metal structure is still holding strong. I wish that it was kept up more but glad that it's still there.

Easy enough to walk around the barriers but if you have a fear of heights, I would not step on the structure. Much of the wood is rotting and will probably be unsafe to walk on.

The river below was not flowing and was rather gross. Would not swim in it right now (Nov '23).

This Was honestly pretty cool to look at. Even though the bridge does look pretty beat up and really burnt. Honestly, I think it's a really cool place to visit. There was lots of lizards . And the road to there was pretty nice. Overall, I would go again even if just to relax.

As someone who loves both the short story and the movie, I had to go see this! It's old and beat up but was worth the trip to check it out! It's a short walk to the bridge if you park down at the bottom. Not very many people there when we went. One group in a boat on the water fishing, that's it though!

This was worth the stop being that it's not too far off the main road and was on the way to a waterfall we wanted to see. Nice memory pretty View. It's blocked off with a cement wall so people can't get hurt on it

I visited what is nowadays referred to as the "Stand By Me" Bridge on May/30/2021.
It is very easy to find, as google maps took me straight to my destination.
There is plenty of parking alongside the gravel and dirt road.
The bridge was fair, it is just like the bridge from the movie except it is missing the train tracks.
The bridge is now
barricaded, abandoned, and also decaying, however somehow this actually added some kind of charm to it.
I was able to get around the barricade, and walked on this historic bridge. It was a little sketchy as the actual bridge has no guardrails and the railroad ties are now more than a bit rotted out.
The views from the bridge are both scenic and so nostalgic.
it is now part of a hiking trail, fishing and camping.
As mentioned above please note.. be extra careful in your steps, and really think well about it before you decide to go and walk it. So with that cautionary alert - Everyone.. here's a place to go enjoy a piece of cinema history!

A nice little side trip if you're in the area. The railroad tracks are long gone, but the bridge is still in tact, though it's fenced off and has lots of graffiti. Still, it's hard not to imagine the scene from Stand By Me, when you see it in person.
