The Cal Hayden Visitor Center is a great place to learn about the dam, buy some souvenirs and even map out a trip around the area. Plus you get a closeup view of the dam and the bridge over the Colorado River. Recommended.

What a beautiful visitor center. It’s very clean and has an entire glass wall where you can look down on the dam. They offer walking tours where you can go down into the belly of the dam itself but In the 110F heat. I opted not to do that.

There is a lot of information available in the exhibition.

Must stop if you are in Page AZ

Well folks we had a nice little trip today got the chance to see the Glen Canyon Dam and visit the Carl Hayden Visitor Center. Let Me Tell You Folks it's well worth the visit if y'all are heading down to Lake Powell or going over to Page Arizona you need to stop in to the Carl Hayden visitor Center. Well worth the stop the history of the building of the damn is something amazing everybody should read. And today I got to do something most people don't get to do anymore. You see folks I'm a phone network and internet professional. And today I had a job at the dam I got the opportunity to go down inside and go into their Network and operations area.
This little journey takes me down to the bottom of the dam to a network closet that only a few have seen. It's a long walk. It took about 30 minutes to go from The Visitor Center to the bottom of the dam where I completed my work and proceeded to take a few pictures on my way out.
Next time you're in the area stopping to check it out I'm sure you'll learn something.

This has been updated since I was there many years ago. I found that the actual tours of the dam have not started up again since Covid, a rumor indicated maybe in November of this year but that is mostly hearsay from one of the workers. I really liked the displays and recommend it if you have any interest in dams and how the water and power systems work and get distributed, etc

Very well done visitor center staffed by friendly park staff. Located a stone throw away from Page, AZ. In addition to the well done displays, which were very informative and interesting, the center includes a theater that runs a series of educational films, clean restrooms, and gift shop. The backside of the visitor center is a large panoramic glass wall that provides a terrific view of the Glen Canyon dam and Lake Powell behind it. The air conditioning was nice too on a hot Septmeber day. Big thumps up from me!

A great place to find out more about the dam and has a great view of the dam. It's free too! No tickets required unless you want to actually go down to the actual dam I believe. There's also a nice gift shop here.

Very informative, both in terms of the construction of the dam as well as detailed information about the needs and use of the water that the dam manages.
The views of the lake are great.
In one of the exhibits you get a very graphic understanding of how climate change really happens.
BTW, admission is free.
