I love marine wildlife and especially whale watching but my mom not so much. The boat and swells are to intense for her. The Elkhorn Slough Safari was a perfect slow and relaxing cruise for her and I, it also created a new way for both of us to appreciate the beauty of the marine ecosystem. We both loved the tour and were ecstatic to see 20+ sea otters on our tour and tons of harbor seals. Our naturalist John was also very informative and fun to engage with. I can't wait for the next time we visit the area because the Elkhorn Slough Safari is a must and we will be more than happy to experience it again.

My son and I totally enjoyed the trip. Excited to see otters, seals, “piles” of noisy sea lions, and so many birds. John the naturalist and captain Roberta were very knowledgeable and amiable. Hot chocolate with oatmeal cookie on boat was an extra delights! Highly recommended!

Each tour includes a captain and a naturalist on a comfortable boat that takes a one-hour tour through the Elkhorn Slough Estuary. I can't believe how many otters we spotted! We also encountered 25+ different bird species, sea lions, and other fauna. After giving a good deal of information and trivia related to the area, the hosts provided coffee, cookies, and cocoa, including GLUTEN-FREE cookies for me and my family members who can't have gluten and just let us relax and enjoy our snack all the way back to the dock. It was the perfect balance of informative and meditative. They have a gift shop full of treasures, too. I will be back!

I can’t recommend this safari enough. This is a must for anyone visiting the area and who enjoys wildlife. My son said all he wanted to do is see otters on our vacation. Well this safari is the place to see them. The wildlife is abundant on this safari. The Elkhorn Slough Safari staff were exceptional and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend for kids and adults alike.

Our captain and our naturalists were kind and very knowledgeable. They generously shared everything they knew and answered any questions. I joined for the birding opportunity and saw lots of water fowl. And of course lots of otters, seals, and even met the local cat resident, Fish Sticks! And there was coffee and cookies at the end of the tour 🙂

Fantastic tour of a gorgeous area- saw sooo many sea lions/seals/otters/birds- many seal pups too! Great way to get nature photos. Our naturalist, Zane, was super knowledgeable and captain Roberta was a delight. This was the highlight of our trip to Monterey!

A great tour! We had a smooth ride thanks to Captain Erica. Our on board naturalist, Jake, had excellent facts, anecdotes, and dad jokes to share with us. He was also pleasant to listen to and gave knowledgeable answers to a wide variety of questions generated from those on our tour. On our mid-April tour we were delighted by lots of Harbor Seal pups as well as a few Otter pups. I was delighted that they had binoculars to use on board, so no need to bring your own!

Exceeded expectations! We saw 19 species of birds, hundreds of sea lions and over 50 otters, including pups. Captain Joe and naturalist Shannon were very knowledgeable. Worth every penny. Thank you!!!!
