Just putting this out there in case someone is researching weekend getaways near NYC. Service and hotel is great, but don't bother with any of the packages offered; it's a waste of money. Our package included a sauna session, s'mores, and delivered breakfast pastries. Sauna reservation seemed silly, given that there's no one there to actually check you in to the sauna or make sure you leave. It also took an hour for it to actually get to the right temperature. Bring your own s'mores; anyone can use the firepit. And they never delivered the breakfast pastries (even though I texted the staff multiple times). If you want to have breakfast with a view, take a five minute drive to the local Half Moon Rondout Cafe, buy their excellent breakfast sandwiches, coffee, and apple cider donuts, then bring them back to eat at your cabin. Save your money, and don't buy any extras this business offers.

10/22/25 Update: The business reached out to me, apologized for my experience, and issued me a partial refund. I updated my review from one to four stars, and do sincerely feel that the rooms/service/location all warrant five stars, but would rate value at 1 star if I could given my previous review. I shared my feedback with the business and hope they improve their amenity offerings, particularly food options, in the future.

If you make a reservation here, reader beware, you’re in for a bad time. I would leave a zero star review if I could. Despite confirming our reservation multiple days in advance, including earlier the day of, when we arrived on the day, we were told to enjoy the amenities while we waited for our room to be made ready, only to then be informed that they double booked our room. It’s worth noting that José was incredibly conscientious and did everything in his power to try and make up for this, but every option that his bosses provided was laughably less than satisfactory. I can’t recommend a worse place to get away from the city. Everything that feels exclusionary and off-putting about a country club is summed up in this awful establishment. When our room was double booked and all of a sudden not available, they offered to put us up in a Courtyard Marriott, which we thought was being done gratis, only to learn they prepared to charge us for their incredibly expensive room for the privilege of doing so. I would recommend anyone considering staying here to sooner sleep in your car, or better yet, stay at the charming Hotel Kinsley in downtown Kingston that managed to accommodate us last minute after this fiasco. Once again, it’s worth calling out that the staff truly did everything in their power to help us, and it was very clear that this was out of their hands and instead was an example of the negligent business owners putting them, and us, in a bad position. José and the desk staff were nothing but courteous and deeply apologetic and willing to do anything in their power to help lessen this awful experience. Overall, 0/10, will never waste my time with a Hutton property again.

Beautiful property. Excellent event space with parking.
Terrible as a hotel. A joke, really.

Hotel guest parking is on the opposite side of the property from the cabins. It's not all paved, so enjoy lugging your bags uphill through gravel! The walking paths to the cabins also take circuitous routes, so there isn't a very direct path from your room to anywhere.

Signage on the property is severely lacking. It's easy to miss that the check-in building is on a completely different turnoff from the main road as the grounds where the cabins are. That's right - check in and out at the top of the hill that can't be accessed by vehicle from where you are sleeping.

Staff have golf carts to get around, but I never once saw any of them offer to help guests cart their belongings. At checkout, I made the long trip to the parking lot 4 times and never saw anyone who might help.

Rooms have no TV. There was an old turntable and a few records, but the needle was trash, so that wasn't an option, either. A/C remote only works when pointed at the unit, yet the remote is mounted around the corner. The best room feature is a heated bathroom floor. Can't even use the fridge in the room because it's for an overpriced minibar.

The 'ruins' on the property is a modern structure. Pretty, but calling them ruins is disingenuous. Path lighting at night was also an issue. Some areas were pitch black and required a flashlight to stay on the path.

We just got back from a weekend stay at Hutton Brickyards. The grounds are beautiful if you are looking for an escape from the city, but the staff is non-existent, which is frustrating when you need them.

The positives: The space is serene and there are no cars on the property so it feels very remote. The restaurant (like the property itself) has stunning river views and an attentive wait staff. We enjoyed our dinner and cocktails.

The not-so positives: You cannot drive to your cabin to drop off your bags. We stayed for just two nights, which was fine, but would have been good to know. There are no TVs, which is fine, but if the intention is to commune with nature, the cabins should have windows that open to let in fresh air.

These points could have been overlooked, but to have a staff that tells you to email / call / or text reception but then you get no response to any of those methods of communication is unacceptable. The cabins were a car ride away from reception so we couldn’t just pop down. Our deck had a wasps nest so we couldn’t sit outside. We tried calling and texting reception and got no response. The price point is too high to completely ignore your guests.

I can't say enough good things about this place. I just hosted a corporate client retreat for 40 people and from the beautiful scenery, the clean and updated rooms/cabins, the EXCELLENT client service from the team (shout out to Sage, Jim, Glen & the whole staff). The new management is a game changer. They helped make my event perfect from every detail including a beautiful welcome dinner on the lawn overlooking the Hudson, to every meal and content sessions, and even helped coordinate all guest activities and late night cozy bonfire sessions. I loved it so much I'm gifting my parents a stay here for their anniversary. Hutton Brickyards is a MUST in my book.

This was a charming getaway with beautiful views, and the staff was very friendly and courteous. However, please note that this is a rustic cabin stay, not a luxury resort. It's very clean, but expect a more rugged experience. Not as advertised as a "luxury resort." ||If you're looking for a river view, be sure to select the correct cabin. The back cabins don't really have a view at all. We stayed in a King Cabin (their top tier)right on the river.|They do not serve breakfast, so you have to go into town for that. Lots to choose from there, but this is a miss. |Caution: It says outside gym. This is hilarious. See the photo of those green things. |Just a heads-up: these are true cabins. There's no closet space, just a small area to hang a few clothes, so you'll be living out of your suitcase. It was a nice, long holiday weekend for us, but the accommodations were more rustic than we had anticipated.|Very small bathroom with sink outside in the main area.

My company just had its retreat there, and the place is truly spectacular. The setting is dramatic and they've been very thoughtful about all the interesting historic details, from the pavilion to the masonry details in the restaurant to the cabins. Everyone was very impressed.

We stumbled on Hutton Brickyard when we were in need of lodging for a concert we were attending in Kingston. I could not have been more surprised or thrilled with the experience. We dined at the Riverfront Restaurant before check in. Maddie was our server and was PHENOMENAL. She was so kind, personable, and informative. Do wish the lunch hours were a little longer but it wouldn't stop us for coming back that's for sure. Check in was a breeze and the check in staff was also very kind and friendly. We had an opportunity to meet the owner who was also friendly and informative. Even hooked us up with our own Hutton brick! 😉 AJ our Gem driver ALSO very kind and friendly. He gave us a few rides and was great to chat with. Even waited while I needed a few extra minutes to get ready. Our visit was quick, just one night, but I'm already trying to figure out when we can get back and do some more exploring there. Next time we'll try the archery for sure!
