Gotta love the small town concession prices that are considerably less than the big city theaters. I would recommend having a screen door at the front theater screen exit and keep one door open to allow for a cooler interior since there is no AC needed up here but it still gets warm in a crowded theater in the summer.

If you have not visited mountaineer than you have not lived like a local in Lake City. It's been a fixture for 4 decades, amazing owners, great popcorn, fun atmosphere. Shockingly comfortable seats also. Go see a flick in Lake City, support local businesses, mix with town people, and enjoy!!

Total Lake City Landmark! We've been going for several years. This is such a fun place and reminds us why we love Lake City. Every visit is an event! From the local kids behind the counters to the raffle and gift bags, and of course Phil's pre-show announcements are worth the price of admission alone.

Where else can you go to a tiny, intimate theater in an extremely remote high altitude Rocky Mountain town and see first run movies? ..a theatre where Phil, the owner, stands up in front of the crowd, sometimes in a costume of that week's main movie character, making announcements about upcoming movies and giving away door prizes. The interior walls are paneled with large black and white paintings of famous movie stars from the past. The Mountaineer Theatre is a gathering place for locals as well as town guests. This theater is a gem, a one-of-a-kind American theater experience.

We had a great time last year seeing Jeremiah Johnson on the big screen again. The theater is a very nice addition to Lake City!
