This lodge has it all if you love Alaska. The views are unsurpassed-- snow capped mountains, ocean full of sea otters floating by , eagles every day, singing hermit thrushes! The owners Steve and Wendy are hands on welcoming and caring. The staff is top notch attentive, helpful and available. The fishing guides Matt and the kayak staff Grayson were truly excellent teachers and companions for fun trips.|The food was outstanding. Every meal was cooked perfectly with variety and detail. Every night was a fresh fish catch option as well as another entree from which to choose.|Cordova itself offers so many opportunities for adventures-- hiking trails , excellent bird watching, multiple other great restaurants ( see my other reviews for Cordova), superb history museum.|What I heard from some other guests who were there for a wedding but not necessarily there for Alaska is that this did not meet their expectations. One does not go here for the luxury accommodations. I must say that the lodge was very clean, the beds were comfortable with good linens, the towels were soft and fluffy, the daily housekeeping was high level AND it's a remote Alaska lodge. There are spots with paint chipping off, piles of "junk" around, untrimmed bushes, basic things like paper napkins and certainly no spa or pool or room service. The wedding guests apparently were not prepared for the "non five star" accommodations and complained about minimal closet space, no salad fork etc. if that is what is desired this is not the place for your vacation.|If instead you want fabulous scenery, outdoor actives, a warm and comfortable place at the end of the day with great good you don't have to drive to-- this is your place. The people here also make it amazing.

This was such a cute little place filled with such a rich history. I loved staying here for a couple of days and just admiring the beautiful view of the water from my room. I was even able to observe a multitude of otters swimming and eating which was delightful. There is a sauna that guests are welcome to utilize and they allow you to wash any laundry you might have with you free of charge, which is almost unheard of today. I will definitely return if given the opportunity.

TLDR; The location is gorgeous. Couple it with the people that run it and you get a magical mix that makes you say "Yep. I'm going to come back here. Heck, I'd LIVE here if teleportation was a thing."||Long version (many things have been left out, for you to discover by yourselves...):||The location is so gorgeous you could spend all day sitting outside admiring the changing colors and cloud configuration of the landscape, looking at the wildlife all around.|The Lodge itself is comprised of beautiful older buildings with a singular layout that give a magical atmosphere to the place, and the history of the old cannery is palpable.|The room was spacious and clean, the beds were very comfortable, and the view from any room window is unbelievable.|Outside, the air is so crisp and smells so good you'll wish you were all lungs.||Many of the other guests were eager to chat and exchange stories, it felt like being on a big group outing with friends and made for a warm atmosphere, for us newcomers from a different continent.||The food prepared by Chefs Tony, Noah and George at the New England Cafè is all sorts of amazing, fine-dining restaurant level, and really the whole staff deserves tons of praise.|We were attended to by some of the most welcoming and brightest-smiled people ever: Jae, Loelle and the super nice girl with purple-streaked hair (I am so ashamed and sorry I didn't catch her name), who added to the experience with their spot-on advice and gracious professionalism. ||We couldn't do much in terms of hikes and excursions (for reasons depending on us), but everyone made sure we could do as much as possible:||- Jackson accompanied us to an amazing custom-arranged hike, and regaled us with in-depth information about the environment and hilarious tales of mischief and adventure, while showing us magnificent views and mastering a difficult road to get us there - including bringing us to a totally unexpected, unreal, majestic scenic view.|- Trinity welcomed us at the lodge and showed us around, and gave us all the info we needed, making us feel right at ease in this new and completely different environment, and providing excellent advice.|- John (operations manager) welcomed us at the airport and during the drive back to the lodge told us a lot about the surrounding area and the town, showing us a few lovely spots right from the start of our trip, including a pointing out a pretty impressive salmon, in the first half-hour we were there! He made sure we had everything we needed during the whole stay, told us a lot of stories about the place and was a real pleasure to chat with. He went out of his way to make us comfortable when everyone's plane was delayed by hours, making it even sadder to leave the Orca Adventure Lodge. ||Last but of course not least: Steve and Wendy, the pillars and masterminds behind the Orca Adventure Lodge. |May your vision and hard work always be repayed many times over and appreciated by amazed and heart-shaped-eyed visitors.|And, Steve, please, pleeeeeeease write a book with your adventures. Do it. Everyone wants it. |||Finally, a few words of advice to visitors:||1) to those who need darkness to sleep: bring travel blackout curtains 🙂 |It's never been a problem for me, but I reckon it might make a difference to some.||2) if you plan to fly there, make ample room in your plans for flight disruptions. ||3) do your research before you go. I was there when a wedding occured, same as some other reviewers, and I was so sorry to hear that some guests where not satisfied with the amenities and service. |To these guests, I ask this: on the lodge website everything is clearly stated and shown, it's one of the most honest hospitality websites I've seen, so what's your excuse?||Thank you, everyone at Orca Adventure Lodge. |You made me love Alaska, despite truly despising temperatures below 78°F.|Hugs to you all from the Italians!

I recently stayed here whe on a trip with my sister. First of all, the view and property are AMAZING! The room was fantastic, and we loved the walk out porch and the sound of the stream next to us. They had an entire room full of games and puzzles for the family. All of the food we ate on property was so good, the fish was all fresh and we loved everything. ||The owners were so friendly and helpful. Wendy shuttled me around one day to a couple of locations to hike (her recommendations) and gave me a tour and history of the town on the way. She gave us recommendations on things to do, and we got to experience the opening day of Copper River Salmon season! ||The lodge is in a great spot for an easy scenic walk, we saw multiple eagles, otters, seals, and more! Such a beautiful place, I will definitely be back with my family!

I spent a little less than a week here with a group of BIPOC folks for a trail running retreat. While the owner of the trip company was incredibly disorganized and unprofessional (I’ll save that for another review) the staff and owners of the Orca Adventure Lodge were wonderful. Trinity is a class act who will do everything within her power to ensure your stay is comfortable. John made sure the fire and sauna were ready to go whenever we needed it. The guides for the fishing trip and glacier kayaking were knowledgeable and welcoming. The food at the cafe (especially the incredible dinner menu!!) is delicious and the rooms are simple but cozy. I’d highly recommend staying here if you want a true small town Alaska experience.

Orca Adventure lodge is the place to stay in Cordova! Steve, Trinity and John were absolutely amazing in making sure our group had what we needed for travel, travel gear, lodging and more. Cole and Chris were the highlight of our fishing trip and made my first time fishing a great experience. Jackson and Hawken were a big part of making our glacier kayaking trip a great experience and getting us safely to and from the lodge. The chefs were amazing and the food was so good and the wait staff knew all our names and made our dining experience worth it. The process for folks to get the fish they caught processed and packed for shipping was super smooth and grateful for that! The rooms were always cleaned and housekeeping did such a great job. The lodge itself is situated along the water and amenities like a campfire and sauna add to the experience of looking out across the water and enjoying the moment. I will definitely be recommending everyone to come stay at Orca on their next visit to Alaska!

We loved our stay here. We took the boat trip to see wildlife especially the sea otters. There were so many and so cute. We also took a kayak trip to the sheridan glacier which was incredible. The staff was wonderful the whole trip esp. with dietary and mobility needs. The food was excellent, esp. the salmon. The rooms were comfortable. Would highly recommend this adventure.

Stayed here for a Points North Heliski trip. Beds are comfortable, water hot with great pressure, daily room service. Can’t really ask for much more given the location. Steve, the owner, is super nice. Only hit was slow internet, but again, remote location affects service and it’s nice to disconnect.
