The Chamber has some great events for the public and members. Their monthly meetings are amazing because someone had a genius idea to do each meeting at a different member business! When I was president of tfw Chamber of Commerce up in northern Minnesota, that would have been a great thing to encourage members to socialize with one another and go see a business they may not have gone to before. It really is a nice unifying thing.

The year was 1970, I was a 16 year old kid from Cheyenne, WY. We came down with the Central high school marching band for a competition parade. I remember it was spring and it was warm with flowers blooming while back home in Cheyene we still had snow on the ground. I was amazed. I also remember it was an extremely long parade and it was hot in our heavy uniforms. I was a drummer and while that was cool, drummers get no rest. We play 100% of the time. When the band ends a song, drummers continue with a cadence to keep the marching in time. The most memorable experience came at the end of the parade when hundreds of volunteers were ready with the largest cups of ice water and fruit punch I'd ever seen and they made sure every kid got one of each. Like kids do, we took everything for granted and I know I probably didn't even say thank you. But now some 50+ years later, anytime I get really thirsty, I remember that day and those wonderful volunteers. So now, if there are any of you left who might remember those years, my heartfelt thanks to all of you. I've never had a better tasting cup of ice water since. Thank you for giving a kid some good memories. You made Canyon City a wonderful place to visit.

What a great Chamber of Commerce Canon City is blessed with! This group is upmost helpful & upbeat. Ms. Peabody steals the show, but, I'm a cat lover. Be sure to stop by to get the skinny on all of the local attractions from the friendliest Chamber in the West. 🙂

We stopped by the visitor's center in Veterans Park and were overwhelming assisted with very specific sites and accommodations tailored exactly to our needs! I don't remember the name of the host, but her aid was far superior to any other visitor center we've ever visited. I highly recommend a stop here before you continue your visit to the area to make sure you don't miss anything!
